# Toolfox

> Toolfox is a free desktop app for Mac, Windows and Linux with 57 tools for PDFs, images, documents, archives, data and text that run entirely on your computer. Merge and compress PDFs, convert and resize images, ZIP, batch rename, find duplicates, strip metadata, format JSON, make QR codes and more, entirely offline. No uploads, no account, no ads, no tracking.

Key facts:
- Price: free forever. No subscription, ads, account, usage limits or watermarks.
- Privacy: all processing happens locally on the user's computer. Files are never uploaded and every tool works fully offline. The app only goes online if the user checks for updates (off by default), which downloads a small version file and sends nothing about the user or their files.
- Platforms: macOS, Windows and Linux. All 57 tools on every platform; HEIC/AVIF input is macOS-only; document conversion on Windows and Linux uses a user-installed LibreOffice.
- Latest version: 0.2.1 (2026-10-18).
- Not yet code-signed/notarized: macOS asks once (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway); Windows SmartScreen asks once (More info → Run anyway).
- Never overwrites original files; validates every output before reporting success.
