PDFs & Documents · Unlock PDF
Remove the password from a PDF you can open
Quick answer
Open Toolfox → Unlock PDF, drop the protected PDF, enter its open or owner password and click Unlock PDF. You get an unprotected “name (unlocked).pdf”; for PDFs that open without a password but block printing or copying, leave the password blank. It runs entirely on your computer (Mac, Windows or Linux). Files are never uploaded.
How to do it
- Open Unlock PDF and drop one or more protected PDFs.
- Enter the open password or the owner password, or leave it blank if the PDF only restricts printing or copying.
- Click Unlock PDF. In a batch, the same password is tried for every file.
- The unlocked copy is saved next to the original, which stays protected.
