PDFs & Documents · PDF Compressor
Make a PDF smaller on your computer
Quick answer
Drop a PDF into Toolfox → PDF Compressor and choose Lossless, Balanced or Strong. Balanced and Strong downsample large photos; text and vector graphics are never rasterized. If the PDF can't get smaller, Toolfox says so and writes nothing. It runs entirely on your computer (Mac, Windows or Linux). Files are never uploaded.
How to do it
- Open PDF Compressor and drop one or more PDFs.
- Choose Lossless (structure only), Balanced or Strong.
- Click Compress. You'll see the new size and percentage saved.
- Copies are named report-compressed.pdf; originals are untouched.
Options you can set
- Compression
Good to know
- Savings depend on the document. Text-only or already-optimized PDFs may not shrink; Toolfox then writes nothing and tells you.
- Balanced: images longer than 2400 px are downsampled, JPEG quality 72. Strong: 1500 px, quality 55.
- Password-protected PDFs aren't supported.
