Turn images into an animated GIF on your computer
Quick answer
Open Toolfox → Images to GIF, drop 2 to 300 images, drag them into order, set the time per frame and looping, and click Make GIF. Frames are fitted inside the first image's shape without stretching, and the result is saved as animation.gif. It runs entirely on your computer (Mac, Windows or Linux). Files are never uploaded.
How to do it
- Open Images to GIF and drop your images.
- Drag them into the order you want.
- Set the time per frame (500 ms by default), the loop, and a maximum width (480 px by default).
- Click Make GIF.

Good to know
- GIF is limited to 256 colors per frame, so photos show some banding or grain. For photos, short clips at small sizes work best.
- Up to 300 images. The total of all frames is limited to 300 megapixels; lower the maximum width for long animations.
- Only the first frame of an animated GIF input is used. EXIF rotation is applied.
Images to GIF FAQ
Why does my GIF look grainy?
GIF can use only 256 colors per frame, so photos show some banding or grain. Choose “Best” color quality and keep clips short and small.
Can I keep transparency?
Yes, turn on “Keep transparency”. GIF transparency is on or off per pixel, so soft edges look jagged; with it off, transparent areas are filled with the background color.
How many images can I use?
Up to 300, with a total of 300 megapixels across all frames. Lower the maximum width for long animations. Only the first frame of an animated GIF input is used.
Is Images to GIF in Toolfox free?
Yes. Images to GIF is one of 57 tools in Toolfox, a free app for Mac, Windows and Linux with no account, ads, limits or watermarks.
Does Images to GIF upload my files?
No. Toolfox processes files on your own computer and works offline; your files are never uploaded.
